Sad news, photographer Sam Haskins passed away November 25th at his home in Australia. Perhaps best-known for his ubiquitous and influential 1964 book, Cowboy Kate, Haskins suffered a stroke on September 19th, the same day that an exhibition of his work opened at Milk Gallery in NYC. Unfortunately, Haskins never fully recovered emotionally from that ordeal. Read a personal statement from Haskins' son, Ludwig Haskins, here. See Haskins' last series of photographs along with some previously unpublished pics from Cowboy Kate here. His late work is still beautiful, luminous, and packed with personality - both the models' and the photographer's. I wrote a short piece in September about Haskins and his Milk Gallery show here. Condolences to the Haskins family.
